Graduation Project

At Elzinga & van der Krieke I had my own research project, during which I learned a lot about injection moulding and alternative production methods.

During my graduation internship, I had an assignment at Elzinga & van der Krieke, a company that specialises in Injection Moulding. They cover everything in the Injection Moulding process, from the first stages of design to creating moulds to production runs. I conducted my own research project covering various production methods and including marked research. I conducted static stress simulations using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to assess the structural integrity and behavior of components. I also utilized Generative Design for design optimization, focusing on material usage, production feasibility, and aesthetics, using these results as starting points for further iterations. I managed the entire process of concepting, iterating, and prototyping, culminating in a design presented to the client and supervisors through digital renders and a full-sized 3D-printed model.
